Communities served: Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center, Osseo, Maple Grove (LWVBPOMG )Local League Facts: The Brooklyn Park, Osseo, Maple Grove League has been active in many city/county issues. Somerecent local areas of study and focus include; elections, voter registration, community forums ontopics such as immigration, the caucus process, racial disparities, light rail. Our members are encouraged to become involved as they can in areas of interest to them. This mayinclude study/discussion of an issue, advocating for a position or legislation, planning educationalprograms or candidate forums, voter registration activities. We are members of the Upper Mississippi River Region Inter-League Organization. We organize and host nonpartisan local forums for candidates and ballot referenda. We partner with The Committee of Metropolitan Area Leagues (CMAL) and West Metro Leagues tobring quality, nonpartisan, informative programs about major issues to members and thecommunity. Meetings are generally scheduled September through May. Times vary based on need (someevenings-some weekends) and to accommodate peoples varying schedules. Meetings provide information, study, discussion and set direction for action on issues. League meetings are open to the public and posted on our Facebook page LWVBPOMG.Membership Benefits Study, discuss and act on important community issues.
